History

King Racing is a family run race team based out of Pictou, Nova Scotia. Rollie MacDonald, the owner of King Racing, started his racing career in 1965. MacDonald competed in many events and series including ASA, MASCAR, and the Maritime Pro Stock Tour along with the help of his son, David MacDonald and other team members.
Rollie was extremely competitive throughout his career winning multiple championships (1983 MASCAR and 2005 Pro Stock Tour), and many races. In 1999, Rollie went on to form an alliance with two-time MASCAR Champion, Scott Fraser. Fraser and MacDonald made an extremely well pairing, winning many races throughout their five-year alliance.
During their first year together, the team raced throughout Canada and the United States competing in Speed-weeks (New Smyrna) where they won 2 races and the 1999 MASCAR series winning 2 of six races they entered. Over the next two years, Fraser and MacDonald competed in the ASA Series claiming 5 top five finishes and four top 10 finishes. This family run team continued to be competitive throughout the next decade competing in many events with Cassius Clark as driver and Andrew Hicken as crew chief. This team was extremely competitive, being the first team to win the Triple Crown in the Maritimes, the 2019 IWK 250, the Toromont Cat 250 and the Speedway 660 Pro Stock 250. To date this pairing is still winning races as they won the Oxford 250 in 2021, a long sought after goal.
In 2014, Rollie MacDonald’s grandson Austin started his racing career in Bandolero cars at local tracks like Scotia Speedworld and Petty Raceway. Moving through the ranks Austin won multiple Bandolero championships and at the age of 12, he decided to step up to a Legend Car. Austin has many notable Legend Car wins and also a few Championships under his belt including the 2019 Battle at the Big Top Championship and multiple International Championships. Continuing to move classes Austin currently races Pro Late Model Cars in both Canada and the United States. Over the last 2 years Austin has competed in the CARS Tour in North Carolina, the PASS series based in Maine, and also the Maritime Pro Stock Tour where he has achieved 2 wins, multiple podium finishes along with many top 5 finishes.
Currently the family, works together with many other team members and the help of King Competition to field a very competitive Late Model team based in their hometown. This sport has always been a part of the family and you could say … its in the blood.

wish could go but home with the little one as shes not feeling the very best wish i could join to show my respect to ken
Kenneth John Madore was born in Edmonton Alberta in 1957. He had 6 siblings of which he was the eldest. At an early age, Ken's father, John, instilled in Ken an admirable work ethic and an authentic love of the land. Ken grew up learning how to fish and hunt with northern Alberta being his playground.
Ken joined the Canadian Armed Forces in the 70's being first posted to Winnipeg, Manitoba as a Maintenance Tech working on heavy duty vehicles. Ken set a goal to become part of the Airborne Regiment, and, in the 80's, was posted to Petawawa, Ontario where he continued his paratrooper training. Throughout his career, Ken successfully completed over 77 military jumps in both Canada and Germany. As a civilian, he holds over 300 successful jumps throughout the world.
After leaving the military with the rank of Sargeant, Ken moved back to Canada calling London, Ontario home. He transitioned successfully into civilian life becoming a long haul trucker. His passion for trucking and all that this chosen life brings, brought a great deal of peace and joy as well as the occasional adventure...
Ken's 'trucking family' grew exponentially throughout his career. He was quick to make friends, a few enemies and had a passion for seeing all that North America presented. The most meaningful part of the trucking profession; however, were the people that made the inner workings of the job tick like clockwork. From the owners to the dispatchers and the support staff to the drivers, each one of you had an influential impact on Ken's career. He met the challenges of the job with respect and found solace soaring down the empty highways. Each one of you made Ken's life so much richer and he knew he had become a better human being for that.
The highlight of Ken's career was being an owner/operator. His learning curve in this regard was initially high but, with the support of his trucking family, he found his path and indicated recently his only regret of his entire trucking career was that he had wished he had taken this step far sooner.
In Ken's final days, his gratitude for his trucking family was first and foremost. He told stories, mentioned many peoples' names about what upstanding citizens you are and how desperately he was going to miss being on the road.
Ken's final words were "Onward and Upward". He wanted each of you to know that you held a very special place in his heart.
Lord, as I take this final ride,
Down roads I've known so long and wide.
I thank you for the miles I've gone
For every dusk, for every dawn.
Through sun and rain
Through snow and sleet
Through highways full, through nights asleep
You rode beside me
Strong and true,
Guiding me in all I do.
This rig has been my home, my friend
But every road must find its end
So now I park my journey through
and give my final thanks to you.
Bless the road, bless those who drive.
Keep them safe, and strong, alive.
And when their final trip is done
Bring them home, Their final run.
